Come to a practice as a guest paddler,
or schedule a session for your group; here's how...

HOW TO GET STARTED:

YOU are welcome to try the sport as our guest at a regular scheduled practice. Guest paddlers, please pre-register 48 hours in advance of the practice you want to attend (scroll down for procedure). Practice times are posted on this website: schedule - location. Practice location is Sub Sea Tours, 699 Embarcadero, Morro Bay, CA.

Or, YOUR GROUP can schedule a Special Paddle at a time you choose (scroll down for procedure).

Any questions, contact registration@ccdba.org

GUEST PADDLERS PROCEDURE:

(limit 4 guests per practice)

  • Complete and submit the Paddler Registration Form (check the ‘guest paddler’ box) and the CCDBA 2024 Liability Waiver.

  • Contact registration manager Gitta at registration@ccdba.org (the coaches request that you contact Gitta 48 hours in advance of the practice you want to attend.) Practice times are posted at schedule-location.

  • Arrive at Sub Sea Tours, 699 Embarcadero, Morro Bay, CA at least 15 minutes before the start of practice. Paddles and life jackets are provided.

Your first ‘Guest’ practice is free! The next two ‘Guest’ practices are $10 each; there is an envelope at the dock, please bring cash.

After you try the sport as a guest three times, please support CCDBA by registering as a Team Paddler.

PADDLERS FROM OTHER USDBF TEAMS:

If you are a paddler from another USDBF dragon boat team visiting the Central Coast, you are invited to join us at practice! No charge. Just complete the Liability Waiver, find a practice on this website at schedule-location, and contact our registration manager at registration@ccdba.org to sign up. Coaches request 48 hours notice, if possible.

HOW TO REGISTER AS A TEAM PADDLER:

You can register as a Team Paddler at any time; you do not have to ‘try it’ as a guest first. As a registered Team Paddler, you can participate in any scheduled practice, clinic, race, social paddle or other activity offered by CCDBA or your team. You will have access to TeamSnap notifications of all activities and practice cancellations. You will be supporting our mission and will be part of our dragon boat community!

TWO TEAMS are available for paddlers. SurviveOars is open to cancer survivors and supporters (anyone who wants to support the team). Adventurers is open to Cal Poly State University and Cuesta College students, faculty, staff, and alumni.

To register as a Team Paddler: (Any questions, contact registration@ccdba.org.)

  1. Sign and submit the Paddler Registration Form and Liability Waiver.

(NOTE: If you were already registered as a Guest Paddler, you do not need to do the paperwork again. Just notify the Registration Manager that you are now joining, and pay the Team Paddler Fee.)

  2. Pay the annual Team Paddler Fee to CCDBA:

IF YOU ARE A SUPPORTER (NOT a Cancer Survivor): $175/YEAR

IF YOU ARE A CANCER SURVIVOR: $125/YEAR

IF YOU ARE A STUDENT: $35/quarter

For Survivors and Supporters registering August 1 through December 31, the fees are 1/2 of the annual fee.

Pay by using the Donate button on this website (select Paddlers Registration Fee); or mail a check to CCDBA, P.O. Box 785, Morro Bay, CA 93443.

MINORS (UNDER 18):

Minors can register as a guest and/or as a Team Paddler using the same procedure, except the minor and the parent/guardian must sign the Minor’s Liability Waiver; start with the standard Liability Waiver, and it will direct you when you check the 'under 18' box. Any minor under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult on the boat (either the parent or someone the parent designates in writing).

SCHEDULE A ‘SPECIAL PADDLE’ SESSION FOR YOUR GROUP:

Your group of 8 to 18 people is invited to schedule a ‘Special Paddle’ to try the sport of dragon boat racing! CCDBA will supply a coach, a steersperson, and all equipment. This is a great team-building experience for local clubs or businesses, or a group of friends who want to try the sport together. CCDBA requests that ‘Special Paddle’ groups make a donation to support our programs; we suggest a minimum of $10 per paddler. For more information, contact Lynn at scheduling@ccdba.org.

Note: CCDBA is governed by a self-perpetuating Board of Directors. There are no voting members. Registered Team Paddlers are not members of the nonprofit organization. However, there are many opportunities for paddler involvement at the team level or on board committees.
