Zen sessions are for recreational paddlers who enjoy being on the water and for paddlers new to the sport. Zen sessions provide a light cardio workout. Minimal coaching is provided but safety training is still emphasized.
Training sessions are for those paddlers that want more coaching and more cardio than a Zen session. Coaches help paddlers refine their stroke.
Race sessions are for those paddlers who want to competitively race. Paddlers are coached on the technical aspects of the stroke and drills are used to reinforce proper technique. Race strategy is reviewed and practice race runs are conducted. These sessions provide a great cardio workout as required to build the endurance required to race.
Steering Training - 8 weeks experience required
For those paddlers wanting to learn the art of steering a dragon boat canoe. A paddler must have at least 8 weeks paddling experience to qualify for steering training. Other experienced paddlers are encouraged to attend these sessions (as paddlers are required to move the canoe). These sessions are limited to 16 paddlers in the canoe. Paddlers can sign up on TeamSnap (first come, first serve).
