WELCOME
CCDBA teams practice in beautiful Morro Bay, California. Our paddlers train to compete in dragon boat competitions, locally and all over the world. Training practices emphasize safe paddling technique and are suitable for all fitness levels. As a bonus, paddlers enjoy the wildlife and beauty of the waters of Morro Bay. The SurviveOars team offers special paddle sessions specifically focused on cancer survivor support, in addition to regular training practices. The nonprofit, founded by a group of cancer survivors, has grown to include three teams; a diverse community of all ages, all genders, all walks of life. New paddlers and guest paddlers are welcome; click on MEET OUR TEAMS and PADDLE WITH US.
WHAT IS DRAGON BOAT RACING?
Dragon boat racing is an international sport that originated in China more than 2000 years ago. A dragon boat team consists of up to 20 paddlers, a drummer and a steers-person. The sport emphasizes timing and teamwork. It’s not about how strong you are; it’s about how strong WE ARE TOGETHER.
WHAT IS CCDBA?
Central Coast Dragon Boat Association (CCDBA) is a public benefit nonprofit corporation under IRC 501(c)(3), located in Morro Bay, CA. Our dual mission is to build a community of dragon boat teams for all levels of competition, AND to empower and support cancer survivors in the sport. If you support our mission, paddle with us! If you are a cancer survivor, paddle with us at a discounted rate. And, check out what's new on Facebook or Instagram!
